Domiciliary Carer

WHAT IS A DOMICILIARY CARER?

Domiciliary care takes place within a persons home. We use it to refer to carers who provide care part-time, only when a person needs it most. See some of these scenarios laid out below.

Morning

Assist with morning ablutions and routines to set up for a more complete day.

Daytime

Provide help and care during daytime activities to ensure comfort and safety.

Waking Night

Aid in a night time routine and provide support when needed throughout the night.

Companionship

Provide support and companionship for those living alone or with limited access.

Transportation

Assist with engagement outside of the home, provide travel to and from appointments.

Specialist Care

Assist with complex care needs, transitionary periods from hospital to home or the symptoms of dementia.

Mobility Assistance

Aid mobility around the home, assisting with healthy movement or physical therapy.

Clinical Assistant

Work alongside fully-qualified nurses whilst providing care for more complex needs.

What’s Next…

Each individual’s needs are unique, but you will be trained to provide the same high standards of care, no matter who you support.

Together, we aim to enable others to lead full and independent lives in the comfort and safety of their own homes.

With us, you will receive the coordination and support of a professional team, ongoing training and assistance towards qualifications as well as full employee benefits.

What pre-employment checks do you carry out?

We complete a DBS (police check) in the UK for all our potential carers regardless of how long they have been out of the country. This is part of the compliance requirements placed upon us by the Care Inspectorate Wales.

UK Police Checks

We will need to carry out an enhanced police check (DBS) in the UK. This is a requirement for anybody working with vulnerable adults in the UK. You will be sent a “new employee form” asking for copies of your ID documents which will enable us to apply for your DBS. Whilst we apply for this as soon as possible, please be aware that the processing time for this check can be anything from 1 week – 1 month, or on rare occasions it can be longer.

Overseas Checks

If you have lived outside of the UK for 6 months or more in the last 5 years you will need to apply for an overseas police clearance. You will need to organise and pay for this (the cost is normally minimal) and bring a copy of it with you to training. It is normally a case of going to your local police station and requesting the check in person, often they can complete it on the same day you apply.

Do I need to drive in placement?

A driver’s licence is an advantage but not a requirement, we have clients who live in areas where driving is an advantage. The client provides the car and the insurance, for you to be able to drive you and your client for the occasional trip out, to attend appointments or to go shopping.

Will I have to wear a uniform?

Whilst our professional carers are not asked to wear a uniform, we have high expectations regarding presentation. During your training and whilst at placement you should dress smartly and practically.
